Superior Sinus Venosus Atrial Septal Defect: Overview of Surgical Options
Background: Superior sinus venosus atrial septal defect (SV-ASD) is an interatrial defect with partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC) draining into the right atrium. The principle for SV-ASD surgical repair involves redirecting the pulmonary venous blood back to the left atrium and closure of the atrial septal defect without compromising the adjoining structures. Methods: We revi...
متن کاملPersistent left superior vena cava in atrial septal defect sinus venosus type: diagnosis with saline contrast echocardiography—a case series
Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava (PLSVC) should be suspected if we find dilatation of coronary sinus. Sophisticated imaging is not always available in each health care provider. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) with agitated saline injections through the left and right antecubital veins provides a simple, and inexpensive, but effective study for a rapid bedside diagnosis of PSLVC.
متن کاملThe use of an endotracheal tube for cannulation of left superior vena cava via coronary sinus for repair of a sinus venosus atrial septal defect.
A reinforced cuffed endotracheal tube was used to drain blood from a left superior vena cava via the coronary sinus during patch repair of a sinus venosus defect in a 65 year old patient. This approach produced good drainage and a bloodless operative field.
متن کاملInferior sinus venosus atrial septal defect.
One case of inferior vena cava type sinus venosus defect is reported. It is likely to be missed on transthoracic echocardiography. Transesophageal echocardiography is useful. Unlike superior sinus venosus defect which are easily visible on transesophageal echocardiography, a careful search is needed to detect inferior sinus venosus defects. All patients with unexplained right ventricular volume...

cannulation of the carotid artery can be performed on the right or left side in accordance with vascular pathology. If the proper flow in the carotid artery cannot be restored by arch repair, which can occur occasionally when the repair of a dissected innominate artery bifurcation is not possible, an aorta-carotid bypass may be necessary and easily performed with a carotid side-graft used for c...
